MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. --

A fire ignited an ambulance in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday evening.

The fire destroyed the Westmoreland County ambulance and everything inside before the flames then jumped to the EMS station.

"One ambulance was totally gutted and burned out. There's damage to the structure of our bay area of our station. Our building has smoke damage but it seems to be something that can be taken care of in a relatively brief manner," Mount Pleasant EMS Chief Donald Good said.

Smoke damaged a second ambulance. Other area ambulance services have volunteered equipment and paramedics.

One paramedic was treated for smoke inhalation.
